A hemangioma is a benign vascular lesion made up of extra blood vessels. Many appear early in life (infantile hemangiomas) and can look red, purple, or raised depending on their depth and location.
Some hemangiomas remain superficial, while others extend deeper beneath the skin. Although many improve over time, some stay visible, leave residual redness, or cause textural changes that continue even after the lesion begins to fade.
