DAVID HASHEMI, MD
David Hashemi, MD is a Harvard-trained, double-board certified Dermatologist with dual fellowship training in both dermatologic surgery and laser/cosmetic dermatology. He completed his residency at Harvard Medical School’s combined Dermatology residency, which included extensive training at Massachusetts General Hospital, where most laser and energy-based technologies used today were originally developed. He then completed a dual laser/cosmetic and surgical fellowship in New York City under Roy Geronemus, MD, who pioneered many of the techniques used in laser dermatology, making him the most-published author in the history of the field. While with Dr. Geronemus, Dr. Hashemi also trained with a team of renowned New York plastic surgeons in complex post-surgical reconstruction.
This extensive training has allowed Dr. Hashemi to serve as an important contributor to the field, and he has given multiple lectures and published numerous articles on a range of topics in medical, surgical, laser, and cosmetic dermatology. His training and research includes the full suite of laser and cosmetic procedures, including ablative and non-ablative fractional resurfacing, radiofrequency microneedling, vascular lasers, pigmented lesion and tattoo removal lasers, laser hair removal, acne lasers, broadband light therapy, ultrasound- and radiofrequency-based tissue tightening, and body contouring. He also has expertise in the full range of injectable neuromodulators and soft tissue fillers.
Dr. Hashemi has trained at several of the most respected hospitals in the nation. His residency comprised training across all Harvard hospitals, including Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s, Beth Israel Deaconess, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Prior to that he completed an internship year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, putting him in the unique position of having completed training at 2 of the nation’s top 3 cancer centers.
Within cosmetics and lasers, Dr. Hashemi is the only Dermatologist in the nation to have trained both at Harvard / Massachusetts General Hospital and with Dr. Geronemus. As a result, he crafted his cosmetic and surgical skills under several of the pioneers in the field, with most lasers and cosmetic technologies originating from Harvard/MGH, and many of the leading cosmetic trials and techniques pioneered by Dr. Geronemus. Dr. Hashemi has and continues to work closely with multiple past presidents of Dermatology’s leading bodies (AAD, ASDS, ASLMS), as well as many of the most innovative companies in the field.
Dr. Hashemi holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with highest-possible class rank, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was the youngest member of his graduating class. He completed his post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Johns Hopkins University, and earned his degree in Economics from the University of Chicago, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors.
